This Privacy Policy describes how the "This IP" browser extension ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use the extension.

1. Information Collection and Use

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

No browsing history is recorded or transmitted.
No personal information is collected.
No usage analytics or telemetry is gathered.
No cookies or tracking pixels are used.
No data is sold or shared with third parties.

2. Extension Permissions

This IP requests the following permissions strictly for core functionality. None of these permissions are used to read, modify, or transmit your browsing content:

Permission	Purpose
activeTab	To read the URL of the current active tab to resolve its IP address.
storage	To save your display preferences locally in your browser.
alarms	To periodically refresh the IP address resolution in the background.
webRequest	To capture IP addresses from network connections for local hostname resolution.
host_permissions	To inject the floating IP badge onto the websites you visit.

3. Third-Party Services (DNS Resolution)

To resolve IP addresses when the browser's built-in APIs are unavailable, This IP uses DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) via third-party providers:

Google Public DNS (Privacy Policy)
Cloudflare DNS (Privacy Policy)

These queries contain only the hostname of the website you are visiting (e.g., example.com). No other information (such as full URLs, page content, or cookies) is included.

4. Data Storage and Security

This IP stores minimal configuration data (such as badge theme and opacity) locally on your device using the browser's chrome.storage.local API. Resolved IP addresses are temporarily cached in memory and are cleared when the browser is closed. No data is synced to cloud accounts or written to permanent storage.

5. Children's Privacy

Our extension does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children under 13.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
